should judo add striking/ no gi judo discussion

Okay, so ive been wondering this for a while. Should judo add striking to the art?. starting out in judo (and im only a yellow belt and still a noob) i found it odd that judo as a martial art did not contain any striking. And even my family and friends especially my dad are a bit skeptical about the art and often say things about how it doesn't work without a gi and that id just get punched in the face.

As well as my judo im also in the mma program at my dojo and i have been able too pull off ogoshi, but i took several punches to the face and back of the head doing so. but take out any striking classes how well would judo do against a skilled boxer or someone good at muay thai?. because even if they can pull off the throw most judoka probably arent used to being punched and kicked. and probably dont know to keep their chin down or a right or left hook can quickly drop em

ive tried having this discussion with my judo sensei and wouldn't really give me a clear explanation on how judo would handle that. Instead he kind of gave me an angry lecture about how a throw is more devastating than a punch and how hed simply claw someone's eyes out if he had too in self defense. Completely ignoring my questioning on how well do most throws work no gi and on how judo doesn't train against punches kicks etc. so basically what are everyones thoughts on the lack of striking and or striking defense on judo and the whole no gi thing?

due to past complaints ive tried my best to pre read and edit this post so taking it easy on any grammar issues would be appreciated.

    thank you.

"Tradititional" jujutsu is judo that has had striking added in. It is ****.

If you wan to do striking, you can go train striking somewhere else. What's the problem?

i have no problem, the main perpous of posting this was to get others input on whether it should add striking to make it a more rounded art. and i do striking as well i was just wondering how judo would really do against it becuase its not part of randori or judo

    No, it shouldn't.

Go start a thread asking if boxing should include knife-work, that might be more fun.

Someone actually had this thought and then made it happen.

Not a lot of people know about it, because it happened in this little known country called Russia.

They called it Сamооборона Без Оружия.

I already did. If you want to do striking, you are free to go do striking.

    There's Kudo (formerly Daido-Juku).

Also, Judo is striking. Striking your opponent into the mat...or headfirst into a curb, depending on what the situation is.

Judo has kata that contain striking right? So it has some placeholders in there for the gentleman who likes to box with their judo.

So you're new to Judo, and think the rules need to change because you might get punched in the face when you're not competing in Judo? Are there any other sports that aren't as effective when punching is allowed? Bowling? Cricket? TKD (snicker)? Synchronized swimming? I could go on...
