I met a guy who studies Ryu Te.
Before I let Google educate me, does anybody know about this guys art?
It translates to flowing hand or hand that flows. Who are the founders or leaders of the system?

This is a style founded by Seiyu Oyata. It a style of karate that is supposed to be closer to the orignial TE roots as well as differnt practices around Okinawa. Unfortunately its also a style that George Dillman likes to rip off since a lot of his material comes from there.

You can't practice Judo just to win a Judo Match! You practice so that no matter what happens, you can win using Judo!
The key to fighting two men at once is to be much tougher than both of them.

Gezere said pretty much the same stuff I know about it. From what I have read on a blog of an instructor in Kansas City, they do not seem to advocate sparring or live drills, but that may just be how I read it--I haven't heard anyone say that Oyata's techniques didn't work. The instructor whose blog I read seems very, very elitist, and so if that carries over into the rest of the students you may want to keep that in mind.
****, I had no idea Oyata had passed away.
