Ashida on Revenge of the Ninja film:
"Likewise saw this long ago. One of the best in the genre. Excellent fight choreography. Of course, the plots of these things were always kind of thin and watery. But,there is one scene where Sho Kosugi is tied up and being beaten by the bad guys. Every time the hood goes to smack him, Sho looks in his eyes and imagines himself making a sword cut back in the Dojo. After about three smacks the bad guy is so intimidated by the stare that he stops hitting his victim. THAT is mind control, and it works just like that.
The enemy can "feel" the retaliatory strike psychologically and it stops him. Part of this is because what is projected is NOT "fighting back." That would just make the enemy battle harder. What is projected is a cold simple execution. Because he knows he deserves it, his own inner fears give him pause. Sho is not projecting anger or hatred. He is projecting justice. An excellent example of HsiMenJitsu. The underlying morality plot is an exploration of what makes justice different from revenge. Good movie thanks for reminding me of it.

Thanks for the heads up, JKDChick. I really enjoyed his forums in the past.
Have you all heard his new MIDI theme song at www.ashidakim.com? (unless he's taken it down since I was last there)
EDIT:
It looks like someone actually set it up *for* him. Maybe he dosen't actually want another one.Welcome to the message boards formed for honorable Master Ashida Kim-sama. Though with his humility, he would surely prefer something simpler, it is our duty to show the respect and honor that is earned as a younger warrior to our elders.
"Master Ashida Kim-sama", eh? Way to mix your honorifics and languages.
EDIT AGAIN:
I drink green tea a lot myself but I never thought to brag about it before....One of my favorite best time is having a session of green tea and talking about techniques ways in Martial-Arts with some good Martial-Artists friend.Last edited by Wounded Ronin; 4/19/2004 5:22pm at .
