We need to grow up

I have tried to get many people to join this forum, but they end up leaving.
You know why? Because most of us act like asses.

I got a teenage girl who did tkd or wanted to join it. She comes here, and people start asking her about her panties and immediately call bullshit. They don't even stop and apologize AFTER the fact that I vouch for her. I have refered alot of people to this site. I have a friend that does kung fu and competes in koushu and san shou, and he thinks this site is bullshit because of the "all knowing arrogant asshole attitude" on this site that when he found stuff on kung fu it was bashing. I'm NOT saying bullshido is anti kung fu, I know bout Omega and Asia, and what most of the staff think.

The active and contributing members stance is totally on par. Its alot of the people on the forum that just act like retards, and in alot of cases just reply to a thread with things like "cool" and thats it and other little **** (which I am guilty of sometimes).

I'm not claiming to contribute much, but I DO try and get people to join here, but they refuse to because of the huge amount of un needed rudeness here. I'm not talking about when someone is a ninja or a dumbass. I'm talking about the unprovoked insulting of new members.

You (as in alot of the new members that don't do much but post things here in there thats just in conversation) say "if they are too wimpy don't let them be here/let them leave " or something like that. Well how the **** are we supposed to reach out to guys here?

I have refered countless people to this site, and most of them end up checking the site out then leaving. I'm not saying put a ban on swear words, but i'm saying boundries are needed.

And asking something like "what color are your panties" to a 14 year old girl who comes here because they THINK it MIGHT be a 40 year old man posing as a girl is fucking unacceptable. You guys getting my drift? because as much as my post may seem dumb to you, or wimpy, the fact is we as a whole need to mature more, and we NEED more rules here in bullshido, and to enforce them. Because referencing to that teenage girl incident, that made me fucking sick. She only posted a little (thirteen posts or so?) then didn't come back. I try and get shitloads of people to join, but its not much of a point because next to none of them have the sense of humor we have. Even though the whole STFU newb thing is a joke, many people don't get that, and think that it IS the sherdog mentality.

I'm stressing this as much as I can right now, because theres alot of people we could be helping, but end up pushing away because they are simply flat out assholes.

Pussies? maybe so, but most of the people i find on say, MAP, get very offended if you even say a little swear word in a convo unneedingly, and face it, those are the kind of people we need to help, sure some of them may be arrogant and refuse to admit what works and such. But theres alot that are alot more open minded then we think (I'm not talking about the guys who cry saying "Bullshido guys are bullies!" but alot of these guys feel bullshido is like a "tough guy contest").
I'm rambling on yeah. But I stand behind the post I'm attempting to make. Bullshido saved me from flutter kicking at tkd and skipping and dancing around, and reading ashida kim manuals thinking its real out of ignorance of the subject and all of the bullshit around. I want to help people the same. But until we can be just a little more kinder as a whole, we aren't gonna help too many.

Hear me out.

I'm also trying to get my friend that does kung fu that I mentioned to try and make a post here with what I'm saying.

If you could provide some examples of unwarranted flaming I might be more sympathetic. But as it stands there are soooo many idiots that come here the potentially quality posters might get caught in the crossfire.

Well, I think the general **** pit attitude pushes somepeople out before they even post. I don't think gentling the site with moderation is the solution, though, just a slow process of maintaining a tone.

the problem with bullshido and the reason i hardly post anymore can be summed up in one word- nutriders. I remember when mcdojo.com was about exposing the frauds. now its about people jumping on the "harsh welcome" bandwagon (which is only funny when certain people do it and not when some noob with 40 posts does it)

I don't recall ever being insulted, except through negative reps. One was deserved - I deliberately made a troll thread. The other was unwarranted, but it didn't bother me any.

Other than that, I don't recall any flaming done whatsoever (towards me). Just my experience with Bullshido.

They do have a point. I lurk more than post simply because much of this website reminds me of a high school football team...a MID WESTERN High School Football team. Put the genitalia away already!

Which is really a shame, since the purpose of this site is frickin amazing. I'm almost afraid that the true goal of this site will be buried under a pile of meaningless, spam-flavored **** and that the hard work of members like Samuel Browning and other Fraud Busters will be lost among the drivel.

If anything, I'd like to see some of the meaningless crap cut out from decent threads. Skimming through 124 pages of "Yu Fukin Rox" and "MMA owns you" to get to the good stuff wears on a reader. No censoring necessary...just flick the useless crap from threads like a crusty booger.

Oh come on...are you serious? If your friend's feelings were hurt, that's her problem, not the poster who asked her about her panties. When anybody is offended, that person makes the decision to be offended. It's entirely up to us to become offended, nobody else.

Look at the substance of these boards. This isn't exactly a love fest. If this were a gardening forum, then I might have some sympathy, but let's be real.

Personally, I'm pretty polite. I don't get off on bashing people over the internet. In fact, I'm a much bigger ass in person than I am on these boards. I believe that's only fair. But, people whose feelings get hurt over the internet need to toughen up, especially if they're martial artists. In some ways, the attitude around here keeps alot of the pansy asses away.

I will say though that personally, I think the panties comment was out of line. And I don't blame you for defending your friend. I'd probably do the same thing out of honor. However, your friend should learn to deal better with that sort of thing, and if she can't then, she's always free to go somewhere else, like she did.

See, it all works out in the end.
