The olympics is about sportsmanship and activities that are actually sports, not two guys actually trying their hardest to screw the other guy.
That's why TKD and Boxing are in. Olympic TKD is all kicks with heavy gear so when they get kicked in the head they don't suffer serious damage and the boxing is amateur boxing, AKA, not ANYWHERE NEAR as brutal as professional boxing. Not to mention TKD and Boxing are both point based systems, whereas ( as far as I can tell ) Muay Thai are full force fights where injuries could take someone out of the game anywhere from months to forever. And no one goes to the Olympics to see athletes get seriously fucked. And some martial arts ( like the kendo community ) have chosen not to be in the Olympics ( even though fencing is already in. )
But BJJ and kyokushin karate on the other hand might make it some day. -

You sir, need to **** right off.
Allow me to expand: Motherfuckers get knocked out in amateur boxing all the time. Yes, it is less than pro boxing, but a confounding factor is that pro bouts last at least twice as long as ammy bouts, and often 4 times as long.
Both ammy boxing and TKD are full contact sports where motherfuckers get hit really fucking hard. Need I remind of you the flying spinning hook kick from Athens 2004 that had a ************ curled up on the floor for all of 5 minutes?
Muay Thai is scored by points in the likely even that there is no knockout.
Getting hurt is part of the game. Muay Thai if practiced safely ie don't fight too often, don't be fucking stupid with the matchups etc, is as safe as any other pro combat sport.
Also, if you want to make it olympics ready just: 1. Add headgear and shin pads 2. Point system with expensive electronic equipment 3. Shorten matches 4. ??? 5. Profit 6. Get a borderline ignorant/stupid ************ from NBC to make totally retarded comments about **** he has no business talking about and BOOM! Muay thai is in the olympics.
But who wants to see muay thai in the olympics?
