This video is fucking terrible. Is there something better in the middle? The start and finish looked like modified chi sao. Yes, I know there is a crossover between Bak Mei and the chun. They actually share many similarities. It is a drill and that is it not sparring, fighting, or any thing in that vein.

It does get better a bit in, but agree it's not fighting. I wasn't trying to specifically find a hard contact sparring video, just did a search for pak/bak/pai mei and sparring to see what came to the surface. Not much.

I thought it was a mix of good/bad/silly but still a decent illustration of the style itself. It was really the best thing I could find in a 10 minute search.

According to my own lineage I'm supposed to hate this style and its founder so you're right, this is fucking terrible...

They spar with pads, respect the BJJ, and even work eye rakes and eye pokes with goggles. Yes, there are some slappy ****. Still if more kung fu schools sparred with contact they wouldn't be a laughed at as much.

I'm not on here as much anymore and I missed this thread until now.
The Bak Mei club I trained at has since closed its doors to the public. Mike is only training private students in small numbers now.
However, the site is still up and there's a lot of good information regarding the style and our offshoot fighting style -short fist.
I was also a closed-door student for about two years and am still on good terms with the club.

I understand that Mike is now working with a Hung Gar Sifu from the USA and taken him on as a private student. There is a link to his website and he speaks at length about his experiences training under Mike.

I'd love to learn it, but the only logical places to have a school near me would be Philly or Baltimore(but I doubt there are, unless you know of anyone). I already give Saturdays to Yagyu, so I doubt my wife and kids would be that understanding.
