Sanda in Denver!
"The Denver Mile Hi ICMAC & Rocky Mtn Regional Sanda Chmapionships took place this past weekend June 23rd at the lovely Parker Field House and it was a super success. We had about 40 more competitors than last year plus the Sanda (Full Contact Kung Fu Fighting) Championships that afternoon. The Denver Shaolin Kung Fu Taiji Institute had 19 contestants enter and everybody medaled. I dont have the final figures but we won Gold in just about every division we entered. Real quick to mention in the Sanda Championship - Dietric "The Peacemaker" Hayes is now the Rocky Mtn Regional Heavyweight Champion! His record is now 2 - 0. He fought a much more experienced MMA fighter. Also Beth Engleking won a hard fought Silver Medal in Sanda in the Heavy Weight Female Division. This was Beths first fight and she won her first fight but due to fighting one fight after the other (she was exhausted) and lost to a more experienced fighter."
Argh I hope they have another one, I would love to try some sanda out. I dont know a thing about this kung fu school but if they are out there promoting sanda they must be legit.
cool that they organize tournaments, but that is some horrible sanda!
no technique, awful striking and they gas like onion soup.
I wonder whether they got points for those strikes as normally a strike has to have power to be counted.
anyway, I'd look pretty bad as well, maybe they're just very noob.
The rules for the event stated that it was for novice fighters (no professionals allowed) although that just makes me wonder how an "MMA fighter" ended up there.
Despite the numerous attempts by the red trunks to take the black trunks down, the black trunks landed to more impressive kicks and punches.
