That's ok when the other guy throws slappy arm punches not so good if theyre heavy. The reason I ask is that I know once I've got my hands on them I'm pretty confident that I'd be able to take them down, but it's the initial closing the gap between striking and grappling which is causing me to question my training.

Or am I just massively over complicating things?
No. You have to find a way to control the striking zone. either with your grappling or by learning striking.

Otherwise a puncher who has (God forbid) learned to grapple will beat you up.

I've never had a problem there, either. I have a much easier time fully committing in a street fight, thus my percentage of success goes way up.

    In Russia distance closes YOU!

The video shows chain-punching clearly working, meaning the chun wins again!!!

I've seen people make both ends of a straight flush board in a holdem game

but it doesn't happen all that often
There's no choice but to confront you, to engage you, to erase you. I've gone to great lengths to expand my threshold of pain. I will use my mistakes against you. There's no other choice.

No, "chain punching" refers to one, specific kind of ineffective strike. It's not a general term for girly punches.
