Teflon coated knifes

I have a CS Recon I that I've carried for some years. About half the Teflon has worn off just with normal use. As far as I can tell, it has no effect on cutting anything.

After using knives without a Teflon coating for years and for everything from carving feather sticks at campsites to skinning fish, I have yet to get anything stuck on uncoated steel except for tape and that's going to stick to anything regardless of coating. Coatings are nice if you're using a steel that rusts easily, like 1095. Some coatings, such as bead blasts, will actually interfere with slicing by creating friction as you slice. Other smooth coatings are simply there to minimize shine and glare and are all about preference.

If it chips off and you use it to cut stuff you eat (lol, like cheese.. teflin chips sticking in it!) can't it give you cancer?

No. It gives it flavor.

Actually it'll make any unrelated cancers slide right off.
