    I can't say now..I know what you're thinking, and I don't blame you for thinking it :o)... All I can say is that I started in 1979 in London and I was graded 5th degree black sash in 1997. As for Style and Examiner, I'll gladly tell you via email or telephone or in person, no problem, but not on this forum.

    I agree....who does it really hurt? But outside its originating culture it does seem kind of LARPish. Do the students walk around in Chinese garb searching for "the master" too? Don't cross "Sho-enuff".

    Some of the older koryu still require this. It's less about secret societies and more about preserving a tradition.
