How Awesome was Battletech/Mechwarrior? Am I right??

I only really played the video games, but Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries is the actual tits.

Nova + 12 lasers + lotsa jump-jets = point blank one-shots for great justice.

Man, I played the hell out of MW4: Mercenaries when I was in highschool. My go-to shitruiner when I played online was a Nova Cat stuffed full of small and medium lasers, and boy did I ruin the day of some freebirth scum with that ****. I'm actually rather pumped about MWO too, and I hope the team making it realizes what made MechWarrior awesome.

I also read a shitload of the novels. Good reads by and large. At some point I want to get into the game itself, though first I need to find similarly minded nerds.

I just played Clan Wolf vs Word Of Blake in one of my journal RPGs. The Blakists had captured a Jade Falcon unit and disguised themselves as them. It went kindof like this:

"This is Star Captain Ranna with Clan Wolf's Delta Galaxy. What forces def...what is that whistling noise?"

Yeah, they hid a lance of artillery and VTOLs nearby, with Achileus armor acting as spotters. We got our asses pretty kicked.
