    THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

BLOOMINGTON A central Illinois judge has sentenced a Bloomington man to five years in prison for a residential burglary he committed while dressed as a ninja.

Judge Robert Freitag sentenced 29-year-old Sean Wheeler on Friday. Wheeler is a martial arts enthusiast. The Pantagraph reports Wheeler told the judge he has been addicted to drugs. Wheeler said in the two months he was free on bond he tried to take advantage of treatment programs. Prosecutors asked for a 7-year sentence.

Police found Wheeler wearing a ninja mask and black clothing when neighbors called authorities to report the burglary.

The judge said he would recommend Wheeler for the Illinois Department of Corrections' rigorous, military-style Impact Incarceration program. If completed Wheeler's sentence could be reduced. Wheeler's defense attorney was pleased with the recommendation.

Wow I didn't realize ninjas had invaded Illinois I guess I will have to be on the lookout now.

I'm thinking that can't go well in prison.

"martial arts enthusiast" huh? I guess this guy didn't have the real ninja skills. Then again, who knows, maybe the dude was a BJJ blackbelt and just happened to also be strung out and/or mentally ill.

I wonder if that mask was home-made or store-bought.

I guess I've been wrong all along, I never believed in Ninjas; they're everywhere.

He may get to try out his skills out; lurking without being seen, walking through walls, and his hand-to hand stuff will really get put to the test. We'll see how enthusiastic he is about his martial arts then.

I'd bet it was either bought from the Internet or a creatively tied hoodie.
