You need to think about what you are doing to your body.
Slow and steady wins the race.
You want to use medicine before, during and after you training sessions.
Massage the liniment into your hands and leave it on for at least 20 minutes before washing it off if you have to.
How I teach IP is different from others:
1. warm ups
2. standing
3. Application of medicine
4. tapping the bag
5. 2nd application of medicine
6. finish tapping the bag
7. apply medicine for the 3rd and final time
8 standing

Style: BJJ/Iron Palm--
From my modest amount of research in books and on the web this seems like the most comprehensive way to do it, by which I mean it goes above and beyond simply conditioning the hand through striking. I've been somewhat surprised by what a difference some light exercise and meditation early each morning makes in my day. It has also helped me to treat the actual striking as a sort of mindfulness meditation exercise, where I can relax and focus on what I am doing physically, and let my worries about the upcoming day just wait in line until the day actually begins.
I could see how for some people it would be too large of a time commitment with too distal of a payoff however, but I'm also thinking "better safe than sorry" in terms of hand function.
Anyhow, I've had a blast thus far.
Do you have any dietary recommendations other than maintaining a heart-healthy diet where possible? -

Not too much deep fried food.
Eat better lean protein and veggies.
Up the green leafy veggies as you get more calcium from them than from dairy products.
no special diets unless you have a serious condition that warrants something like that.Last edited by Mor Sao; 7/02/2012 3:40pm at .

Brothers and sisters,
I am going to be offering my Iron Palm material to the general public.
My kung fu brother, Rod Morgan has done a similar thing. There are no secrets other than practice, access to good training herbs, qi gong and rest and good nutrition will see people gaining success with the program and others.
I will also be teaching the finger training as done in South Mantis.
