What kind of sick soccer rugby sport is this?

I was considering joining the rugby club in college. At 6 feet tall and 200lbs, I was a pretty big guy, but I quickly learned that in fact I was the smallest guy there.

Exactly. Now it's very possible, on average, that they are the pound for pound STRONGEST athletes of any team sport, but "toughest" is a bit nebulous for anyone to lay claim on.

Strongest? probably Rowers, strongest ball sport players? probably Water polo. It's true that Gridiron does seem to produce some pretty massive hulks of guys though - so it's hard to say.

As far as toughness goes - it is a nebulous concept to be sure, but I'd probably argue that Rugby (which is a rather similar game to Gridiron, sans the armor) requires a 'tougher' player than most sports.

If you measure tough in terms of how many are arrested for crimes of violence, I think the Gridiron Gang stands head and shoulders over most other athletes, including MMA and ballet.

And Cullion, as far as I know it is possible to gas out or phone it in while running a marathon with no negative repercussions beyond ridicule by the spectators and damage to one's self esteem. Doing either in an MMA match usually damages a lot more than that.

I don't know how it is over in Australia, but over here we have boatloads of little troglodytes who think aping the slang and appearance of incarcerated felons and having run ins with the law makes you a "real man". Not that we should give their opinion any value, but there you go.
Anyway, the REAL toughest athletes are NASCAR drivers. As far as I know, neither rugby nor gridiron players. can shatter every bone in their body and catch fire if they let their concentration lapse.
