I've been working for a company that produces anime and manga for the Anglophone world for nearly four years, but until just now I didn't quite understand what a weeaboo is.

Because a lot of people in martial arts have other martial art backgrounds. I will be honest. Yes my friend that i am referencing has a background in Boxing, BJJ, and Eskrima.

But doesn't change what hes doing. Hes using Taijutsu in live situation against resisting opponents. When he lived in Japan he would regularly discuss with me how his training was(In Bujinkan). And it is a lot different than what I hear you guys mention.
You know that no one believes what you're saying, right? :Suspicious:

First I have done Kyokushin, and have the utmost respect for them.

But seems as people like to look at stuff like long stances and the like for comparisons.

Static Kata (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOEgRrWZh48) - Which has: Long stances, Odd stances (Uchihachiji Dachi index 1:19)
Static practise of blocks (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1rT38qgBRs), punches (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjwxff6c7sM)( I have never seen anybody throw those punches with that stance in sparring).

So given the focus on long stances etc, what is practised in kata and to learn the basics, looks nothing like Kyokushin sparring.

1/ The way that rank is given away in Japan to westerners. It may work for Japanese, that style of promotion, but it rarely works for westerners. If I was good enough to have my own Dojo, and I'm not, people going to Japan and coming back with *magic* ranks would NOT be allowed to show it in my Dojo, until their peer Black belts thought it appropriate.

2/ The punch from 3 bloody feet away. Sheesh!!, get a grip, yes learn the technique using long stances and a slow pace, but then make it real. It used to be long stance's to the get rhythm and timing then short stance to make it real. If you cannot reach you opponents nose YOUR TOO BLOODY FAR AWAY!
Are you trolling? If not, you need to find another school. All of these things have been discussed on this website ad nauseum.

No worries, but why are you still with that group?
3 1/2 years to Shodan? Does that even sound right when you say it out loud?
How often do the instructors train in Japan?

If there is no other group around, train in something else. Why waste your time AND money?

Post #2, he wouldn't listen even after I reminded him.

Oh and the booj was **** in the early eighties. No, I do not believe you had the "real" at all. Yes, even if you don't say "real deal" your posts STRONGLY convey that point.
