I would have to agree for the most part; my only concern is that Obama is continuing on the path, with nothing to check and balance him. He did make a lot of gun dealers very happy when he was first elected. The Second Amendment guys bought every gun and round of ammunition that they could get their hands on. Obama's position on firearms is no secret; that works in Romney's favor.

I doubt that any of the Republican candidates would make a difference in that category. Ron Paul would probably have given it the best shot, but he was a little too nutty and a lot too far right.

I didn't refer to Canada as a socialist state; it is my understanding that Canada is a monarchy with a parliamentary government. This may be administered in a socialist manner, but does that make Canada socialist?

I was asking you or anyone else with knowledge of the subject, to explain me how a country changes from a democratic republic to a socialist state. I wasn't trying to get into political science debate.
My contention is that the USA is pretty much screwed any way you look at it. I expressed my views and my concerns.

No, the fear mongers who made Obama's positions—rather than his actions—an issue among gun owner's are who made the gun dealers happy. Obama has doing nothing like what was speculated by said fear mongers, and the reasoning that he would wait until a second administration is nonsense. If the President of the United States was as powerful as the fear mongers imply, there would be no advantage to waiting for a second term.

What works in Romney's favor are the same lies about firearms that the insular right-wing media (very different, and most more existent, than the supposed "liberal media") has been using virtually incessantly for roughly 40 years. Lies are made more obvious by their repetition in dissimilar circumstances.

Obama had a lot of political capital in the beginning and spent it on healthcare. He does not have unlimited power but any single cause that was his focus could hve been championed including firearms. I would have preferred financial reform and some healthcare but oh well he spent it where he spent it.
