    Footbrawl!

Quite possibly inspired but such a movie great as Shaolin Soccer, a new sport is emerging from the cultural contrariety that is the Gold Coast. Combining elements of contact martial arts and various football codes (and resembling a softer version of what I imagine Caid to be), we now have Footbrawl:

    footbrawl-to-debut-in-queensland

Anyone wanna put a team together?

Hmm, looks better than some of the other martial arts/fieldsports hybrids like combaton

Things like this, sando etc have all the ingredients for a popular, entertaining sport, but I'm not optimistic.

Haha, yeah I think their goal of holding a world championship in Nevada in three years is a tad optimistic.

Or you could just be a runner while the rest of us just grapple the other team in the background.

I used to run a 100m in just over 11 secs - even tried out for bobsled. But I suck at changin direction.

Haha, I used to run low 11's as well. But that was over 15 years, 15kgs and two reconstructive surgeries ago.

I think the problem with sports like this is that you can put together an awesome highlight reel of flying side kicks and lifting takedowns every few seconds and that gets everyone excited to watch it, but then they show up to watch the sport and its a big clusterfuck.
