    Hell yeah! Hell no!
I've narrowed my scope down a little into more of what I'm really interested in. It may not be practical but I could really see myself taking an interest in it. As for my best description I can muster, I'm looking for a striking arts, with the fluidness of laido - the sword drawing technique, with the power of MT behind it.

Judo. It's cheap and widely available.
"So, yeah, Zen teachers may well insult you, work you to the bone, hit you with sticks, shout verbal abuse at you, and punch the **** out of you.
And when the ****'s been punched out of you, you might just find that you're far better-off without it." - Vieux Normand

"So in short, BJJ wins again. BJJ, and chainmail." - TheMightyMcClaw

"On bullshido, your opinions are not sacred, neither are your feelings." - Scrapper

"You entered the lions' den. Don't bitch if you get eaten." - danniboi07

"Needless to say, it's much easier to clear a bunch of drunk kids out of your house when you're yelling GTFO and carrying a samurai sword." - DerAuslander

"Eventually, I realized it doesn't matter what art you train, what matters is the method in which you train. Training in an alive manner, under skilled and qualified instruction, is the single most important aspect of gaining martial skill. All else is window dressing." - JNP : Saying it how it is!

nope I just want to hit hard and fast. Be the king of sucker punches. As I stated before I'm not a fan of movie style posing.

Well let me break it down. In and out in a flash, fluid movements, sucker punching(deception), sounds like ninja.

    Just kidding.

Truth is, things like deception, fluidity, power and speed, these things are dependant on the artist, not the art.

So then can anyone recommend a place that has burst contact sparing? Philadelphia area? If I have to go the path of ninjer I guess I could explore it but I'm afraid it wont be hands on contact.

Honest question, what does judo have going for it? I don't know whats it about. I see that its a throwing art, but how much of it can I use to actually hurt someone? Would you recommend it for small spaces?

Sparring and competition, you will learn techniques that are proven to work against fully resisiting opponnets (JUDOKAS THAT DONT WANT TO GET THROWED), great conditionining and good self defense (people get injured when they take cement head first)
