    weight lifting for boxers???

    Hi all. I lately stumbled on this clip of something called "the grappler's circuit. I do it once a week with low weight and it is hard core . How ever i was thinking maybe there is something better for me out there that will give me an edge in my boxing classes.



    Any ideas on how to better my time in the weight gym will be welcomed with boxing in mind..i don't compete and don't mind gaining some added muscle mass.

    check out the stuff on rossboxing.com. plenty of good stuff. I did one of his workouts a coupla years ago and dug it.

    Where did you find the grappling circuit video? It definitely seems like something I need to do, as it seems to target areas of weakness I have.

    I looked for Rendy's and GSP's workouts on you tube...These guys know their ****...

    Holy crap 6 sets?! That sounds intense.

    I'd like to try this but I had a lower back injury a few years ago. That Good Morning exercise looks dangerous.

    Not to add too much heresay to the PT forum, but this seemed relevant: rumor has it that Good Morning exercises were what led to Bruce Lee's messed up back, which was a pretty pivotal part of his life. Some people/documentaries say that it happened in a closed door kung fu match but hurting it exercising sounds about as likely. I think the actual exercise was a little different but the basic mechanics are the same.

    If you don't add a lot of weight to the bar (which you shouldn't anyhow) than i don't think it is dangerous at all, i mean if you grapple or clinch in MT the stress on your neck and back is greater anyhow. So training the area in a controlled fashion with little weight is good.
    If you want to avoid injuries and such than full contact sports after the age of 20 is not a smart choice, lets face it.
    For the Grappler's circuit you just need an olympic bar (20 kilos..) and maybe if you are up for it add some weight, i add 5 kilos to each side and it is more than enough..i also do only 4 sets...**** that 6 sets ****...it will ruin my week.
