Okay so just a thought I have been kicking around. Been doing kakudai lately and trying to think up some bunkai for fun, and all of a sudden a memory from my limited grappling pops into my head. At one point during the kata you basically lunge forward and catch your self with your hands in a four point stance your hands shoulders width your right leg bent and close to you body the left leg slid back strait.
This as with any kata could be any number of things, a dodge a sweep, what have you but I have a feeling this would work as a sprawl. I am still new to grappling, though I do hope to cross train with judo a little later on, so any grapplers out there any thoughts?

That's not really anything like a sprawl. The essential features of a sprawl is that you take both your legs away and put your hips on the floor. If you keep your leg forwards like that, your opponent is going to pick it up and take you down with it.

It was an interesting thought but thank you for the input, really that's the fun of bunkai having a theory and putting it out there to sink or swim. Thank you again.

Yeah thinking about it I prefer the take down version something about it seems to fit. All and all the kata is just a whole heap of fun.
