I actually facepalmed yesterday when I realized I didn't mention China Mieville's world Bas-Lag and books set in there, Perdido Street Station, The Scar and The Iron Council. The last one is the worst, but they are all damn good books.

Hell, anything Mieville has written is well worth reading.

I didnt like un-lun-dun that much. And I love the phantom tollbooth! Why wont the bastard write another bas-lag novel??

I actually haven't read Un-Lun-Dun, I have a natural aversion to "youth novels". And no idea why he hasn't written more Bas-Lag stuff :(

Kraken was good fun and Embassytown was superb though :)

EDIT: And how could I forget City and the City!

City and the city was dense but brilliant. Any hope for RAILSEA? Its supposed to be young adult too.
