Willesden (UK) Judo

Does anyone train with these guys? They look totally legit and I'm going down on Wednesday to have a go.

I've trained with/fought against guys from that club a good few times and can certainly confirm it is one of the top ten clubs in the country, and has been for a long time.

Also, as you can see from their front page, they've enjoyed international success with McKenzie, Badrick, et al.

Willesden is a level 10 club.

Don't know how much structure they have in place for taking on and developing adult beginners.

I would strongly advise giving them a call before hand to check which sessions are suitable for a beginner and so that they have some warning that they're going to have to accommodate a newbie in the session.

I couldn't find it if they do. The BJA club finder lists their session times as:

Men & Women Wednesday 19:30 - 21:00
Boys & Girls Monday 18:00 - 19:00
Boys & Girls Monday 19:00 - 20:30
Boys & Girls Friday 19:00 - 20:30
Boys & Girls Saturday 09:30 - 10:30
Boys & Girls Saturday 10:30 - 11:30

They apparently train at Willesden sports centre.

Their site's a bit spastic, this: http://www.willesdenjudo.net/training.html indicates that Wednesdays are adult beginners, but I'll give Lloyd a call and see what I can find out.

Just for anyone who finds this thread searching for Judo in the area:

I've spoken to Lloyd and he's told me that adult beginners are Wednesdays 19:30-21:00 at £5 a session. Gi jackets and belts can be provided if you need them.

I'll be heading over next week.
