I'm with jnp. They're all ****. They're all biased.
OP - your impressions of Fox News are accurate but you'll find the same bias if you watch CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS............
I only use network news for the headlines. If I see something that catches my interest I'll go to other sources to try to understand the truth about the story.
And BBC is a joke too. -

Whatever half-baked views you hold about the BBC, you can't for a second pretend it's anywhere near the hilarious, foaming insanity levels of Fox.
What we have in the UK is a reverse of the US situation, our TV news is pretty sober and our newspapers (at least the popular ones) are nakedly propagandist full of crazy and lies.
Read the Mail Online or The Sun, USians, if you fancy having your monocle sprung clean from your face. -

The funniest thing about Fox News is the disappearing headlines on their website. They're the worst for that. They're trying so hard to be the first to break stories you'll occasionally see an outrageous headline about some major story that never appears on the other networks' sites. A few minutes later it will disappear from Fox never to be mentioned again. I haven't seen one in a while but I've seen several of these in the past.

Mark Thompson BBC employee since 1979 and Director General since 2004 said this about the BBC's political bias
http://www.politics.co.uk/news/2010/...left-wing-biasIn the BBC I joined 30 years ago there was, in much of current affairs, in terms of people's personal politics, which were quite vocal, a massive bias to the left."
Now it is a completely different generation. There is much less overt tribalism among the young journalists who work for the BBC. It is like the New Statesman, which used to be various shades of soft and hard left and is now more technocratic. We're like that, too.
For non- Brits, the New Statesman is Britain's leading mainstream Left wing magazine. It advocates 'democratic socialism', redistribution of wealth via the tax system and generally latches onto any left wing cause de jour.
To say you've gone from having a 'massive' left wing bias, to only having as big a left wing bias as the New Statesman. Is like saying you used to be as left wing as a MiG with its right wing shot off, but now you're only as left wing as a MiG with 9/10 of its right wing shot off.
The most important point, however, is that the BBC is funded through a mandatory tax on every citizen who owns a television and has a legal obligation to be impartial, which it flagrantly and openly breaks.
If it weren't funded by tax payers and wasn't legally required to be impartial no one would care. Its the abuse of tax payers money to advance a specific partisan agenda that is offensive and wrong. -

Re the BBC
My wife has made me watch BBC murder mysteries for years.
I have come to the conclusion that there's nothing more deadly to a virile young British man than an old man or woman sneaking up on them in a Church or graveyard with a blunt object.
And even though they are able to turn around in time to look horrified this images so terrifies them they are paralyzed can not defend them self. -

I'm with judoka_uk on this one. They're both, to differing degrees, guilty of sixth form common room lefty politics. In the case of the BBC it's farily well documented Their own report on it found the BBC
- has an "institutional Left-wing bias" (their words)
- has "a tendency to 'group think' with too many staff inhabiting a shared space and comfort zone."
- promotes anti-Christian sentiment
- promotes anti-American sentiment
- allows schedules to be "hijacked by special interest groups promoting trendy issues"
- over-represents homosexuals
- over-represents ethnic minorities
- fails to reflect the views of the British public on issues such as capital punishment
- fails to reflect the broader views of British people
- fails to reflect concerns about pornography and family-unfriendly broadcasting (1960s Director General Hugh Carleton-Greene notoriously refused ever to meet broadcasting standards campaigner Mary Whitehouse and would commonly refer to her in opprobrious terms)
- allows itself to be used by "sinister" campaign groups
- finds it difficult to understand there may be alternative views of the world
That report was from 2006ish but they'r still at it. A few of the news bloggers keep track of things like the political orientation of Question Time guests. By the end of last season the left-leaning guests outnumbered the right leaning by almost 3:1. On their radio news whenever there's a quote required for the topic du jour they will overwhelmingly grab a soundbite from a Labour MP or union leader.
C4 News is a bit better imo, but Jon Snow is formerly a card-carrying Communist and doesn't always make the most concerted effort to hide it. His autobiography is a fine read btw. -
