Problem with one the philosophy of one of the instructors.

I think that approach can be pretty destructive, but I don't claim to know what's right.

I've trained at both kinds of schools. Each has its merit, but smashing new guys isn't a very effective way to keep them around, or ensure their longevity in the sport. The new place I train BJJ is full of dick-swinging, but I also compete all the time, so the dbag element that I encounter in tournaments is present in my day-to-day sparring, thus preparing me a bit better.

Ironically I only find dbagness in comps happens in white/blue belt divisions. People take it more serious as they increase in rank but also have a better attitude at comps.

Dont think it disappears some people as they improve only become more convinced of their badassary and can't stand it if someone affronts it.
