Style: Suiō-ryū--
Styygens,
I hear ya!
A trademark on a koryū school seems quite peculiar, but this link will explain everything and how it came to be. Sad but true: http://www.e-budo.com/forum/archive/...p/t-36381.html
Kazuo Koike, who is the creator of Kozure Okami (Lone Wolf & Cub) initially gave the name Suiō-ryū to the lead character as his style of swordsmanship; however, once he learned that in fact it was the name of an actual school still intact, he paid his respects to the hombu. In addition, the fight choreographer of the TV series eventually incorporated some authentic Suiō-ryū techniques within the more stylized chanbara that was common for jidai-geki at that time.
Just a little trivia.
Best,
Bradford Pomeroy
