Yes, your school sounds like crapola. There's 8 schools listed online in Havasu, must be some better choice. Elite says that they train Kali, along wiht somewhat (probably) worthless Kenpo, but some kenpo schools are good and you could hardly do worse. I'd read the article stickied in N00bville about finding a good school and then check out all the schools. If you can't find good BJJ, JJ, Judo, 'real' karate etc, at least you'll know what is out there to make an educated choice.

This is very typical of the insecure and inexperienced; they enjoy selling wolf cookies.
Again, wolf cookies. People that tell these tales really enjoy hearing their own voices, and enjoy impressing students who usually don't know that they are full of ****.
How can you restrain yourself from calling bullshit on him or asking for a demonstration? -

Slamdunc and patfromlogan, thanks a lot for your input. It always helps to hear that your gut-feeling about something is an actual legitimate response. I'm going to look elsewhere. Since I paid for the month I am thinking about using it up and getting the work-out from it. But if I wanted just a work-out I'd go to a gym.
God. Thinking about it just makes me mad. It goes against what martial arts should be about. -

According to Patrick Lombardo excellent book " Kenpo: Fragments d'une histoire inconnue" the term Shaolin Kenpo was sujested by William Chow to Fred Villari to distinguish his "new" style from Ed Parker's American Kenpo. The book also mentions that this style is probably closest to how Chow taught Kenpo on Hawai.
At the very least there is no further Kung Fu lineage than William Chow's Chinese background, so the 4000 year remark... Is a pretty bold lie. -
