Good, this offsets the recent Krav disarm succes story.

EDIT: And I just read it. It's fictional satire.

What exactly is Systema? Nothing I read or watch about it makes any sense.

I'm not sure, but I think this is the cure for both Russophilia and Russophobia.

Systema began as an off-shoot of Russian military combatives. It's transition into civilian hands has slowly turned it in one of the wonkiest and most ridiculous martial arts styles, with some of the instructors implementing a mentality similar to chi master's but replacing the word "chi" for "nerve strikes." The odd whipping motion and looping punches they throw are an attempt to put the entire body behind their punches, meaning that they still haven't been clued in as to the most effective way to generate power without leaving yourself insanely exposed.

In reality this is nothing surprising. When you take the combat out of martial arts, anyone can, and will come up with a system based on a series of movements and theories that are in no way grounded in reality. This one just happens to be based on Russian military fetishism.

Systema has the dubious distinction of being one of the very few arts that are clearly worse than Krav Maga.

This one from the same guy is very funny too, and this forum is mentioned.

The real trouble started when Hustle, an L.A. native, swaggered up to the Aikido master and former Hollywood action star and declared the supremacy of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. “I told him straight out that his Aikido was bullshido,” Hustle said, puffing up his chest and referring to a popular online forum which seeks to debunk martial arts mythology. Hustle, who became a regular reader and contributor to bullshido after breaking with his former kung fu temple, is now known on the site for his impassioned posts regarding the supremacy of BJJ. “People need to understand,” he says, “BJJ is the ultimate ass-kicker.”
