So you walk around all bruised up on a weekly basis..that is the only other option. And; "I punch my own face, i know its not the same as taking a hit from a punch but still its conditioning of some sort. and sparring of course." It seems like you try to feel comfy about getting hit in the face so much so that you breech your on defense by hitting yourself.
It sound like you think boxers (ones that train with a head guard) feel comfy about getting hit in the head and or face and that one can understand that boxers basically have a bad defense and habits. Is that what you imply?

for me wearing head guard make is kinda relaxed somewhat not bothered about be hit as im protected etc, without it i find myself moving more dynamically if you catch my drift.

The answer is right in my post, that you quoted, and presumably read, but clearly did not comprehend. A 350 guy with a mate can "defeat" a drunk he is escorting out of a bar by tripping and falling on him. His training doesn't figure into it. Your anecdote, therefore, is meaningless, irrespective of whether your tale is taken at face value.

Speaking as a "real Wing Chun'er," I AM ashamed of this clown. He's an idiot whose too stupid to even realize the clips he's referring to are choreographed. Just ignore him.

Real wing chun gets a bad rap because modern-day practitioners are coasting on the Bruce Lee/old-time Hong Kong reputation, without doing the MMA-style experimentation those old-timers did.

Chi sao is a great training tool. But you still need to spar full contact, and you still need to go try on other stylists. Unfortunately, this doesn't happen in most schools.

Oh, and as to why there aren't any clips of good wing chun stylists beating, say, BJJ or boxing stylists, well, I can't comment on the millions of other WC guys in the world, but for my part, I just don't have the time. I have a real life involving career, friends, family, and a fiancee, and these keep me too busy to devote the training time needed to compete seriously and keep me too happy to get me to go out and pick fights with people.

There are guys in my school who apply the art professionally (bouncers, security, etc.), but other than that, I'd say most everyone there is in the same situation.

I know more than two people that can apply wing chun. You know them too. In fact, if you saw them again now, you'd be surprised... one has only been training for two years, but because he's learnt the right stuff from the right person it works. He now works as a bouncer.

I train with a bouncer whose stand-up grappling is awesome. He's only trained in WT, but must have learnt extra technigues on the job. His speciality is to totally control people without going to ground himself.

What styles specifically teach this? It doesn't seem to be a strength of BJJ.

And

I do however think it is a effective way of self defence on the street , I personally know someone who used wing chun in conjunction with grappling techniques as a bouncer in some of the roughest clubs in my city for 15 years. thats why I joined WC just for self defence if I ever needed it, I also enjoy the other aspects of the art.

These guys didn't even give him a chance, btw to all of you saying he's gonna get his teeth knocked out or get himself killed on the street or whatever, he's been working as a bouncer for 8 years now... i think that would have happened already with that experience... but it didn't did it?
