Style: naginata--
It is, though we don't call it that. The proper name for the modern art is "atarashii naginata"; we were specifically asked by the Japanese government to not call it "naginata-do", and to spell out "naginata" in hiragana. That was back in the '50s, when there was still concern about being linked to prewar militarism.
Jukendo people tend to get injured more often than naginata folks due to the design of the weapon they use, even more so now that the INF has removed ishizuki tsuki (stabbing people in the throat with the back end of the naginata) from international competition. Regular tsuki (stabbing in the throat with the front end) is still just fine, and I think they still do ishizuki tsuki in the US.
