Did this guy just turn Judo into Aikido?

Without the titles, and with a very large pair of magic pants, I would swear that's what I am watching.

You know I was actually on board with that drill for about the first 30 seconds. Up until then it looked like a good way to get new judoka used to the idea of fitting in with opponents on the move. Then he started just tapping the other guys arm and watching him fall over....God damnit

That Muneta vid was pretty awesome though

They are also Aikido/Jodo/Iaido practitioners. I think they're primarily Aikido. Their youtube channel has more Aikido than Judo videos (and the Judo videos ... suck). I've skimmed them and haven't seen any videos of Judo randori.

Let's look at this video at about 3:30 where he describes the throwing motion with a footsweep. He bends his knee and internally rotates his hip to complete the foot sweep.

Isn't this just flat-out wrong? I was taught that foot sweeps essentially come from the hip and that the knee of the throwing leg stays essentially straight. The method I learned (and do) is essentially how Nogaki does it here, and particularly the position at about 4:40.

there was rap music along with that video? you may want to learn to mute the sound on youtube videos if that sort of thing causes nausea.
