Doesn’t bother me! Nor do I have a problem with just agreeing to disagree, or with your latterly stated reasons. I reckon this is a case where diverging perspectives are the best answer to the discussion.

In my defense, I am almost certain that the head pulling triangle was banned at one point (and yes, I am aware that with proper form the choker should latch onto his or her own shin, not the chokee's head, but it's the principle of the thing).

No, it's never been banned for adults. Yes, a black belt may have told you it was based on something he heard from some other guy who vaguely knew some dude etc. etc.

Like the time one of my old coaches insisted guillotines were banned.

I prefer the Spider Guard flex cup, or any of the flex cups over the solid cups. The primary purpose for me wearing a cup is courtesy. I figure it's not cool to be rubbing my junk on people while kimuraing them from n/s or locking up the triangle, or whatever. So I like to have a cup on. But the flex cups will just squish your nads if you try to use them as an armbar fulcrum. They do provide good protection against incidental contact though. I find them to be a good compromise between no cup, and a steel cup.

It was banned at white belt level 6+ months ago in a lot of big Australian comps.
