OP, Just Do Judo. After a year, go find a boxing school to supplement your grappling.

I've heard great things about Camberly, but the only session I can go to is the Wednesday technical. I am not allowed to do Randori as it is Brown or above. My friend trains their and has told me that it is generally only black belts who do Randori. This may soon change though as I believe they are starting a non elite randori night on fridays soon.

Which local clubs are you going to?
Have you tried this one? http://www.surreyjudo.org.uk/clubs/yambclub.html
Its only a few miles past guildford. I've trained their myself and can recommend it. Pete is an excellent coach.

I live only a few miles down the road from Guildford, Nr Dorking

Hmm maybe you would enjoy weapons systems? Fencing or Kendo have protection/padded armour. I have almost no experience with weapons and I think this depends on what you want to do a martial art for: self-defense/cultural wealth/fun/other...

Many martial arts actually aim for you do be resistant against injuries/pain which again depends on the school/teacher.

Well go to the Wednesday technical class. It will probably serve you better than jumping straight into randori in any case. Randori is the corner-stone of judo, but focusing on it too early (at the expense of technical development) can cause problems in your later development.

If you get too fucked up in judo (very hard on the bodey), consider boxing or MT you can always buy a good head gear that will protect your face.
