Hey Dudes & Dudettes,
I hope this finds you well. I'm new around here, well when I say new, I'vebeen cruising around for a few weeks and I must say that I've been mightyimpressed with all your investigation work that goes into this great website.
Last year, 2011, I went along to a small martial arts centre I found onlineto check it out. I wanted to learn a bit of Shaolin Kung Fu but was reallyunimpressed with the whole place and particually the master instructor.
The master instructor didnt even bother to take the session, funny as therewas only about 4 of us, instead one of his "advanced" students ran methrough some basic stances etc... the whole place reeked amateur, so I neverwent back.
The Master at this centre is called "Brian Mckinney" and has quitea few claims which is boardering on the insane if you ask me. Here is hiswebsite which looks more like a shine to his ego than anything else: http://www.bigsky.uk.net/page31.html
And on further investigation, I found these rather hilarious youtube videos:
He is also Sensei to this semi contact guy, who by the way doesn’t have anyyoutube videos of himself fighting or training kickboxing! Strange
Oh dear! What do we think guys?
Or am I just a paranoid nut?
Has he made claims you believe are false or do you just hink he is crap? if it is the former what claims are you claiming are false? if the latter this should really be in YMAS

Being crap has everything to do with being false dont you think? So I am claiming both.
Just googled the British Unarmed Combat Association and there is nothing except for his website which has the British Unarmed Combat Association keyword.
Nope. There are people who have trained legit arts that suck as coaches or teachers and others are the exact opposite.
Being crap has everything to do with being false dont you think?
See what you're saying mate but he sucks as a martial artist from what I see in the videos. If he had all the credentials he claims, wouldnt that make him half decent?

I don't like the videos he's posted. I think that knife defense one shows a lot of really awful techniques. HOWEVER, in this particular subforum, we're in the realm of facts, not opinions. A good place to start doing some of your own fact-finding on the guy is to nail down what all of his claims are, and try to verify the ones you can, with the organizing bodies of the orgs that certified him. If they're all his own associations and there's no outside ones, show us that you've done the research that he's a self proclaimed martial arts guru.
