The only thing that gets me is that they charge people money to become a member of their group, which seems to be a very unofficial group organization.

Just for the record, to date, most of the members have never paid dues. Total dues collected < cost to replace broken equipment to date, NEVER MIND the initial bankrolling of all the equipment that hasn't broken yet. We are doing better on collecting dues so hopefully this club will start paying for itself in the next few years.

Also, the whole "self defense" tactics that they claim to teach, watch the videos, where's the self defense?

I thought you said earlier in this thread that a guy in a light blue shirt was getting hit in the face constantly with a sparring knife. When you have a knife, and someone's trying to stab you, and you cut their face, that is called a "self defense technique with a knife."

What was the alternative you had in mind?

Because that's what a lot of FMA people use (and what we use a good part of the time.) Is that what you were saying earlier about Dog Brothers vs. Tres Espadas, that people who use anything but real sticks are "sissies"? Hint: read the above link carefully before replying.

That's becuz they are a competition school, we don't teach/learn to compete. We do it to stay alive.

Please give an example of a Tres Espadas member competing in a competition under the Tres Espadas name, or give an example of where there was a score or a win or something that at least looks like organized competition.
