I don't really understand why you would open your guard to set a collar choke?

Well the preferred finishing position is to open guard sit up and push out the knees forcing them onto their stomach (the high angle works pretty well for putting on ezekiel pressure)

Really? Preferred for whom? That seems like a lot of work compared to the traditional finish when you use your closed guard to help pull the guy down into the choke.

It's a flow drill, not a technical drill for each move.

Preferred by him. Samir Seif. Yes it is a lot of work compared to the traditional finish. Frequently though as soon as you attack the first collar and position to finalize the choke it becomes quite easy to keep elbows inside and keep your jawline tight enough to defend the second hand. The open guard allows a little more lateral movement and (working with the firm cross collar hand) it become quite easy to attack the other collar because you only have to go under the chin and secure (not all the way behind the neck which they defend quite well).
He has some other interesting videos nothing terribly complex but i like the amount of slight variations and flavors from his other martial arts experience but thats just my 0.02$
