actually that's exactly how i was taught to wrap hands.

omega, do you use smaller wraps for under MMA gloves? i found standard wraps to be kind of bulky for MMA gloves or shooto gloves, so i tended to use smaller hand wraps for those.

I don't wrap for mma gloves. I am literally making a video right now on how to do professional wrapping for mma though.

In your opinion, is wrapping always necessary? I'm a big guy with thick wrists. I never wrap my hands when doing bag work or sparring with gloves. So far, so good... or am I a problem waiting to happen?

As I said on the video, hand wraps work as a sock too so your gloves don't reek later. If you have big hands and wrist then there's less movement in the glove so they're protected.

LOL @ "I tell them to get a better glove."

My boxing coach says the same thing. I basically wrap my hands the exact same way.

Love it. I was having trouble with the bit of wrap that came behind the thumb and went between the index and middle finger slipping up the thumb and running out of wrap to secure it with. This works great.

*Typing this with a properly wrapped hand.

Thanks for the video. I wrap my hands in a similar way.
