You nailed it Tex. Remember the bread and butter of a lot of schools is after-school programs. "After School Karate" gets the point across to the general public. Not to say that I agree with it or that I would do the same with my own school.

lol Right. That gets me too but it's not my school sooo.. But they advertise Karate as a generic term for the uneducated public. Once you inquire further the difference is explained. idk.

This was/is very common as soccer moms look for "karate" lessons for their kids and have no idea what TKD, HKD, BJJ, Judo are or what difference there may be between any. In NJ most TKD and TSD schools advertised themselves as "Korean Karate" throughout the 70s and 80s because nobody on the street had any idea what "Tae Kwon Do" meant.

i don't know... the fact that it's common doesn't make it any less dodgy.

also the MMA program... since there's an MMA program, how many amateur and pro fighters has the school produced? hint: if you don't produce competitive fighters, you don't have an MMA program.
