    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    No appetite?

I'm back into working out after being pretty sick for a few months.

But I am still plagued by a lack of appetite. One would think that working out daily would make a person hungry, but it doesn't seem to have that effect.

Has anyone else had that problem and how did you overcome it?

Right now I am not succeeding at choking down a tasty post-workout protein smoothie (~ 600 calories).

How much are you working out and how much are you eating, in general?

You could try splitting your meals and eating more often, but with less amount for each.

    On any meds?

I did the calorie counting thing awhile back and my average is around 1400 calories a day at most. I am overweight so the low caloric intake has obviously messed up my metabolism. and it's been this way for a long time(probably several years). i had thought that over eating was the cause of my weight issues, but counting calories for a week disproved that.

i am starting my third week of daily workouts using the rushfit videos, so workout time runs about 45 minutes per day. i am about to start doing the martial arts again.

i had chronic asthmatic bronchitis from thanksgiving till about three weeks ago, and so for that time the docs had me on cortico-steroids on and off, and of course i couldn't exercise. but now i am off everything, including my ass.

I am 5'1" and weigh 167 pounds. before this last illness i was weighing between 150 and 155, and trying to workout to lose that weight. i hate steroids.

Incidentally, I very rarely feel hungry. The last time I did was for 2 days while i was taking prednisone three times a day. Then I ate constantly.

I really don't know what's up with that.

Have you had any issues with heart burn (acid reflux)? Have you been dieting or taking diet pills? I've seen an issue like this a few times. There is an enzyme that the stomach is suppose to make that triggers hunger. Some people who have digestive issues do not make this enzyme or make it in very low quantities. They in return do not feel hungry even when they are. My mother suffers from this and I have to monitor her eating regularly to make sure she eats every day otherwise she will get busy with work and go 2 days or so without eating and not realize it.

I'd settle for 130, though I have weighed far less. I am older so I don't expect to ever weigh 115 again.

    I am female and 46.

Predisone commonly causes increases in appetite.

Is this lack in appetite new?

I have never had heartburn in my life. And I have gone for a day or two without eating and only realize it when my blood sugar decides to drop. But last year when I first started investigating why I was working out but not losing weight I started monitoring my eating better and now i tend to eat whenever my teens eat.
