    Who has dealt with Achilles Tendonitis in their training?

    I've got it for the first time. Supposedly it's pretty common in runners. In my case it seems to have come on with an increase in the number or rounds I skip rope to warm up lately. I've been told to stretch it, ice it, and go easy in class for a while. I was wondering if any of the other bullies here have dealt with it, or maybe other forms of tendonitis if they relate to it. How long did it last if so? And do you have any stretches or exercises that helped you in particular?

    Get the pain/inflammation cycle to cease entirely asap.
    Then, work on calf flexibility.
    How long have you had it for?
    It can get much worse if you aren't careful.
    If you use ice don't freeze the crap out of it, just use it to bring down inflammation and pain.

    Do not stretch that foot.

    Go to an orthopedic surgeon. You could have a tear in the tendon itself or where it attaches to the bone.

    I am not a doctor, but did wear a boot similar to this for a couple of months last year due to tendonitis. Originally the pain was mild. Over time, it was nigh unbearable to walk after a few hours into each day. Isolating the tendon for a couple of months gave it time to heal.



    I have also stayed at a Motel Six.

    I had achillies pain. Dont know the cause. Good pair of shoes fixed it.

    Just to clarify, I wasn't told to "stretch it" the same way I'd stretch for a workout. Just told to give it a light stretch with a towel. It seems to help make it possible to move the ankle more comfortably. I also use a rolling pin to massage the calves. It relieves a LOT. Based on what my doc told me, the pain description didn't sound like a tear, so I wasn't referred to a surgeon.

    I would seriously advise to get some medical advice - a good friend of mine had achilles tendonitis, didn't do anything about it, carried on training and completely screwed himself to the extent that he could hardly exercise for about a year. It can be very serious.

    I have. And I'm not exercising through it. I will follow up with my doctor if it doesn't get better, also.

    It popped up recently. That's kind of why I'm curious how long it lasted for other people. I noticed some slight stiffness and discomfort in the morning about a week ago and didn't think anything of it. Then the next day it flared up big time.
