The only booing I really remember was when Ryan Bader was doing his thing against Rampage, and I chalked it up to American servicemen in the crowd. There was a shot of the audience during the booing and the Japanese were almost completely motionless.

I think I'd rather see Aldo move up than Edgar move down, just in terms of seeing more interesting fights. Featherweight is pretty thin, and Edgar moving down really only gives them one big fight to make before it probably just turns into a potential GSP-Fitch scenario. That is, Edgar being good enough to stomp everyone but Aldo.

Aldo moving up, on the other hand, opens up all kinds of awesome fights at LW. Aldo against Pettis, Henderson, Cerrone, Diaz, Miller...I'd watch the hell out of all of those. This is all just fantasy matchmaking, of course. Edgar has to do what's best for him at the end of the day.

Aside from Mitzugaki, what decisions do you think were incorrect?

I had Bader outscoring Jackson in the 2nd and 3rd.

Hioki beat up Bart pretty well.

Shields spazzed his way to victory while Sexyama didn't land enough to win.

And Edgar got beat up, though he came forward and landed the whole time.

I didn't pay attention to the individual scorecards, so maybe that was off.

Same, I was just really surprised after hearing so often how quiet knowledgeable and respectful the Japanese crowds are. If you wanna blame drunk Americans for it I'll follow you there.

I honestly did wonder if the Japanese were either a) howling, in solidarity with Jackson (kind of a booooo-urns sort of moment) or b) booing Bader because they simply love Rampage that fucking much. Traditions and shame be damned.

I don't really know how Shields won.......In my mind I thought Akiyama won mainly because of all his excellent throws and takedown defense. Also, to me, it seemed like a Judo vs. BJJ fight. Neither of them were using striking with any real intention of a KO. It bugged me how sloppy Shields' striking was, especially because of his history. He went on a 15 fight win streak....I mean I only got to see his fights in the UFC, so I don't know how he was in those fights, but I thought he was well rounded.

I was pretty bummed about Kongo losing. I personally think he's in the top ten of HWs. It truly was a crazy comeback. Because of that loss, it seems like his chances of moving closer to a title shot are probably more than a year away.

Finally, I was wondering why they had a discrepancy with the attendance number. I was particularly interested in it because I wanted to know if it was bigger than GSP vs. Shields. When Pride was still around, apparently they had events where the attendance was 70,000, so I wasn't sure if this arena was one of those huge ones they used for Pride. I wouldn't be surprised if no though, since they didn't advertise it as being THE BIGGEST UFC YET%@%#%^%#!

If neither fighter is striking with intention, then you just have to count the numbers, and Shields landed more even though there wasn't much on them. He did throw a few body kicks and jabs in the 3rd that backed Akiyama up, too.

As for the throws, they are beautiful, but he only had two and Shields had as many takedowns scored. The throws' amplitude didn't affect the fight in any way, so they can't count too much more than a TD. On top of all that, Shields did get Aki's back in the third. Yoshi had some kickass D and some awesome throws, but aside from that he wasn't actively doing much. D and 2 throws can't win you the fight when you're outstruck in every round, even if it's shitty striking on both ends.
