Hehe, basically, I agree with everything you just wrote.
Granted, especially the first few Pride events are pretty brutal, but rather than soccer kicks and the knees on down opponents, I'd so welcome a card system for the UFC; also I think the jedging system there was - as a principle - more effective. Say, fights like Nate Diaz vs Cerrone would not have gone the way they did in Pride. -

Excellent looking card. Win, lose or draw, almost everybody on that card always brings it to the fight.
Very pleased to see Marku Hunto get such high billing and I feel that he should be able to have a very competitive standup nuclear war against the giant froggie.
Anyway, I don't really know enough about either Edgar or Henderson to pick one over the other, but apart from that I'll go for Rampage by TKO, Shields by decision via wrestling and Pettis by TKO. -

Agreed, mostly.
A card system would do wonders for fights like Mir v. Crocop and any other plodders who are happy to sit back and wait for the perfect shot for 3 rounds. When you get two of those fighting each other, someone should be losing money and it shouldn't be the PPV buyers.
As for the scoring, if you add the variable "Intent To Do Damage" to the judging criteria, I think it solves a lot of issues. For one, it means that if you lay on top of someone's guard and pat them in the face with nancy-punches while the man on bottom reigns elbows, trying to cut you, the card doesn't suddenly favor you for being on top or call it equal. It also solves the problem that I had with the Condit fight, somewhat, though he still would have probably won - Nick just didn't touch him much.
As for Nate vs. Donald, I thought that was a great fight and I'm not sure your complaint.
