Brown belt Ju Jitsu, Yellow belt BJJ, Yellow Belt kickboxing, Silver medallist at the ju jitsu championships heavyweight division
I wonder who gave him that. -

Well, that's strange indeed because yellow is a child rank and basically means you quit or you are at a strange BJJ school.
Yes, I know, somewhere there is a legit guy giving out yellow rank. I chalk that up to the 1% hard sparring chun school, it is a rarity. Chances are high he didn't train at the rare school. -

So he's a "yellow belt" in BJJ and Kickboxing.... Not something I'd think of putting in an instructor bio. He is a brown belt in Ju Jitsu, not bad but not what most people look for when getting into MMA, and not generally considered an instructor level. He also claims an amateur boxing background in and around East London. Would there be a governing body we could look him up in for these claimed fights?
I went ahead and looked up his teacher Errol Field. http://www.yoshinryu.co.uk/judo-and-...y-errol-field/
6th dan – Judo / 6th dan – Ju Jitsu / 4th dan – Shotokan Karate.
Founder & Chief Instructor of Yoshin Ryu – based at the Coulsdon Martial Arts dojo.
Former BJC International Judo squad member.
National Representative on the European Budo Council for Judo & Ju Jitsu.
Director of Sport Ju Jitsu Kumite and Judo for the European Budo Council.
Master Instructor & Examiner for the European Budo Council.
As far as rank goes Stokes is at best qualified as an assistant instructor but he has no business teaching an MMA class on his own. Its worth noting that he is claiming rank and competition in a different art than Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in his Ju Jitsu claims.
As to his Ju Jitsu competition claims I think this is the organization he would have had to fight in http://www.imaf-europe.com/sv/ but I am not certain. -

Hiya, thank you for your replies. I have to say I found it odd that we would be grading at all as I had never heard of an MMA yellow belt lol. I guess it might have been a Ju Jitsu grading but this was never specified by Mr Stokes.
Quick question... Can a Ju Jitsu brown belt even conduct a grading and confer a rank on a student? -

From their website:
We are a progressive martial arts academy & offer high quality classes. Although we list the classes as kickboxing, it is important to understand that kickboxing, Kung fu, Boxing, Aikido, full contact mixed martial art (MMA), self-defence and fitness techniques are all incorporated into our class program. This makes for an up to date and progressive system that can adapt to fit in with the demands of an ever changing society.
Classes in Kickboxing, Aikido and sport martial arts for men, women and children (4+) of all abilities, as well as MMA SportCombat and much more.
I'm sorry - bit this smacks of total mcdojo.
I know very little of "MMA SportCombat " or MMA for that matter - can someone explain what "MMA SportCombat " is? From what I'm seeing it's no contact MMA..... -

Oh - and something else - they charge 10 quid per lesson for aikido. (Approx $15). Are they mad? I can get some seiously good aikido instruction from Slough aikido for under a fiver a lesson - why the hell would I want to cough up that much for them when they can't even say who the instructor is?? (Not that I want to do aikido).
Rant over- I've had a crap day at work and I'm feeling pissed off and sensitive. -
