This is a slight tangent, but can we please start complaining about fat vegans more?
I don't know if this rings true of anyone else's personal experience, but 3/4 of the vegans I've known have had more than a few pounds extra. We have this stereotype that vegans are thin and frail, but this is as dated and inaccurate as the skinny nerd stereotype; like his dungeons and dragons playing brethren, the average vegan seems to be fat as a planet.

Yeah, you can be a vegan and still have a shitty diet of processed garbage. A vegan girl I know seems to survive eating mostly saltine crackers.

I have no idea how eating a diet that consists of 85% carbohydrates could possibly do that to a person. None at all.

I can't believe that a guy that's into polyandry, armor, steampunk, and Nordic mythology could possibly know a fat vegan. Can't believe it.

I wouldn't know, i'm a lifelong vegetarian myself. It's the veggie dishes that don't appeal to me, mainly because nothing appears to be cooked in any way.

I think comedian Ken Reid said it best when he said:

Since I posses a sense of smell and taste I find that most vegan food is not to my liking. Further, from a processed food stand point I find it much more disturbing and bizarre to eat vegetable matter that’s been processed to taste and feel like buffalo chicken wings, than to actually just eat buffalo chicken wings. Also, my held over sense of teenage punk rock nihilism, mixed with my severe negative reaction to “joining” any sort of movement precludes me from being a part of your hippie nonsense.

If meat isn't good, why is it that veg* foods try so hard to taste like meat? There isn't a big movement to make steak taste more like turnips...

To make the transition easier for people that want to try it out. Many people that are vegetarian/ vegan for a while don't give a **** whether their meal tastes like meat or not.

Also, people in most cases don't turn vegan/ vegetarian because they think the meat itself is not good. It's a moral choice, mostly.
