    You forgot cosplay and burlesque.

I have blessedly few vegan friends. A **** ton of vegetarians, but not too many vegans. I think it's a byproduct of the fact that, as a rule, I don't associate with fat people.

    The fool thinks himself immortal,
    If he hold back from battle;
But old age will grant him no truce,
    Even if spears spare him.

Well at least we all agre that food from organic farms is something completely different than that from McDonald's, frozen and processed stuff from most of the shops. Those who live in a village and go to farms for their meat and dairy products and own a garden for vegetables know the difference in taste and appearance.

And for those part of the world where new arrivals skipped middle ages: There was hardly any meat for common folks in those times. People could not afford to slaughter their animals -if they had any- and took great care for them. Meat was really something special and rare, some people secretly hunted, which was punishable by torture, crippling or death - mostly all of these. Life was way harder though most people lived almost vegetarian. There are more than enough protein in eggs, whey,... The everage life expectancy was about 30 years, but that goes on the lack of hygiene, diseases, conflicts,...

--Still no one in their right mind would be vegan. But funny, those vegans that I know have a normal visual appearance. No extra fat or skeletal features detected : /. Looks like they all did their homework and eat quality food.

I hope I didn't offend anyone, but I just love history.

I hate the style of marketing in which one cause is promoted and another is fodder. That had always been the PETA strategy, be misogynistic to promote animal rights. Lazy marketers who do not want to change their style.

When I had graduated high school I worked at a small bookstore with a Vegan/PETA/Hippie **** who loved to "educate" everyone all the time about vegetarianism. I was getting sick of it so one day I went into the lunch room with my Chipotle shredded meat burrito and started to comment during my dining experience.

"Hmmmmm I think I can hear the cow mooing in heaven as I devour it's flesh."

"Truly, the blood of the bovine is natures tastiest delight."

"Yummy, the fact that this meat suffered before it died makes it taste SO GOOD! Want a bite?"

The look on his face as I ate my lunch: Priceless
The fact he never talked to me again: Priceless

A.) Yeah, we're all in consensus that factory farming practices need to be reviewed and/or changed.

B.) Don't worry about offending people here; the people who matter have a thick skin and enjoy verbal sparring, the people who don't are fodder to be gnawed through.

    C.) History rules.

Does not compute... moral choice. Adam & Eve: don't eat the apple, here's some artificially-flavored Apple Jacks instead? Not a perfect analogy, but I think it makes my point (it should not be lost on you that Apple Jacks is made by Kellogg's, a company founded by a religious vegetarian).
