    While that's probably true, it's an interesting question whether Japanese MMA, which basically grew out of pro-wrestling, would have arisen anyway.

    Funny to think that the first great MMA rivalry in Japan was gi-clad Judo-derived fighters from Brazil versus Japanese who were doing Lancashire catch.

    The way I read it, they just say that Bruce Lee was one of the first guys to mix things up. Which isn't accurate either ( Bartitsu, Kajukenbo) but he probably inspired millions to take up MA's without being restricted by traditions.

    In the blurb introducing the Bruce Lee documentary/film thing featuring UFC employees ... so likely penned by UFC employees.
