Learn a skill dont just shoot people.
This comes from seeing too many super soldier war vets come into my industry because they laughed at al the REMFs doing the girls work.Whitsunday Martial Arts Airlie Beach North Queensland.

Basically this. Also be sure that the if you are receiving civilian certification during the course of your training will help you get a job in the state that you reside in.
Also, unless you are solely in it for the benefits and the extra cash, pick something you'd actually want to do, regardless of if its in your preferred civilian career field or not. -

I second the "do something you actually want to do" advice. Waking up in the morning to do something that you hate, and knowing that you are under contract to do it for years, just plain sucks.
Other than that, just make the best of it, and don't get sucked into other people's shitty attitudes. -

Navy and the Air Force have the best educational/vocational training programs in my opinion. I'm not talking about your MOS school either. I'm referring to continuing education opportunities once you've already joined.
There is very little excitement in the military until you're in the field, and once you're there, it's generally not the type of excitement most of us seek out. I don't know though, maybe you enjoy being scared enough to **** your pants. If you do not test yourself against the unknown, how can you truly know if the tools you possess actually work? -
