So you guys think it's better to build a base as a boxer and THEN add on top of it your MA of choice? Rather than the other way around, I mean.

    That's interesting information for me.

Yes because boxing is the harder skill to learn.

I agree yes, but not because boxing is harder, but because it is easier. Learn 4 punches (jab, cross, hook, uppercut), learn how to parry and practice some basic footwork and you can probably defend yourself against 80% of the population with just those things. They are "mostly" gross motor movements too.

Why does damn near EVERY eclectic martial artists say boxing is easier and then proceed to write out the four moves they know? Also, it is always done in an insulting manner. LOL@grossmotormovements.

Clearly you don't know a thing about boxing if you put the emphasis on punching over defense and footwork. Try sparring an experienced boxer and you will understand what I mean. Understanding boxing concept isn't good enough here to make such statements.

i feel because boxing is an actual bloodsport like mt it is more straight forward in terms of teaching your how to fight in the most basic sense. That being said learning its intricacies and mastering them is another story.

so you could easily exchange "easy" for "effective."

it takes longer to get to the point where you can defend yourself as a karate guy.

That is because the karate guy is training in a shittier martial arts and/or training in a shittier method (or shitty martial arts due to the shitty method of training). that is why it takes longer to defend yourself lol
