ITV cannot tell the difference between real combat footage and video game footage

Wow, I was pretty surprised to read that someone produced a documentary called "Gadaffi and the IRA" in which they purported to show some fighters shooting down a British helicopter. However, it turns out that they were hilariously and ridiculously off base, because the footage they showed was actually footage from the video game ARMA II.

ARMA II might be the most anally realistic military video game out there, but you'd have thought that the robotic, algorithmic movements of the human figures in the clip, along with the lack of spoken communication, and the fact that the guy with the big emplaced weapon keeps firing robotically at the downed copter in front of him, would have made it obvious that the footage was of a video game, and not a real situation.

Apparently some regulator got involved and declared that the footage is "materially misleading". Uh, hell yeah...

Here's the PC gamer article, along with the embedded YouTube video: http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/01/23/it...ame=0&ns_fee=0

Hilarious. This is so obviously computer-generated footage... guess looking at the clip you're going to make part of your documentary takes too much time.
