Most interesting insights, thank you all. :)

I see one difficulty with music and training, overall, but one I usually ignore out of convenience: I tend to adjust my breathing partern to its rythm.

Now, with fast music that is usually easier than with slow, variably rhythmical tracks.

I absolutely despise listening to music in the Dojo. I show up early to reflect, to think, and to prepare techinques. Music (and espescially music I don't like) is disruptive to me. Lady GaGa and Judo don't mix.

That said, as a musician, I absolutely love music. My moods and emotions are controlled by the music I listen to.

So, this is how I do it.

If I'm amped, I listen to something soft especially Jackson browne, or something like Frank Senatra. If I'm sedated I listen to something like All That Remains. If I'm in a good mood, or am feeling a little aggressive, then I listen to Punk Rock. If I'm in Kill mode, I listen to nothing at all.

The need for balance is important with me. Music seems to do that.

I regulary work out while playing the 'Hohenfriedberger marsch' or ' die WAcht am Rhein'.
It's got a good square rhytm to do your routines such as push ups on.

    What Nazi joke?
Both songs werent even written and composed in the 20th century.
A nazi joke would be to suggest Wagner.

Well, Wagner wasn't terribly productive in the 20th century either.

I need music to make myself exercise. Usually either metal or hard dance ****.

At Aikido, we have no music except that which we carry in our souls. At MT and Kali, there is always something playing. Usually lightweight but bass'y dance.

At the open sessions, one of my mates has a mix playlist of some real serious fucking business. Soundtrack to Rocky, "You're the Best" from the Karate Kid. "Eye of the Tiger" also from Rocky. It's a total cheesefest, but its awesome.

The last few weeks though, The instructor at the Kali class has been playing some Jackie Chan album. Now I'm as much of a Jackie Chan fan as the next man, but the sound of some guy wailing over pseudo chinese classical ballads is not condusive to good training.

True, but for some reasons Wagner's music were an obsession for Hitler and he also was socially hanging out with Wagners family, grandchildren or whatever.

My point is: just that I list german music doesnt mean it's nazi.
I also listen Rammstein and Wir sind Helden.

I don't think anyone was implying that all your music was nazi. Just that all your posts were.
