Probably very true. However, I have seen a few cases where women were aggressive (and not in a fun way) toward men with only their faith in the traditional moré of "men don't hit women" to protect them.

Is it just me or does society seem a bit odd when Alistair Overeem can get into a bar fight with five guys and intentionally hospitalize them all and no legal action is taken. He then push's a some one in the face which results in no reported injury and apparently he may go to prison for 6 months.

I guess they where probably two very different situations but it still makes me wonder a bit.

What sort of legal action do you think would be suitable for defending one's family against a group of violent bouncers? I see a guy hit my brother in the face with a flashlight, either he's eating pavement or I am.

this double standard runs very deep - if overeem had shoved a 150 pound guy that talked **** everyone would be posting dickjerks for him ala "Mess with the bull, get the horns"

The whole point of the above post was that I really can't fathom anyone starting a fight with a giant scarred professional facebreaker. If Cris Cyborg got arrested for bashing Marcelo Garcia in the face I'd jump to the conclusion that she started it, because she's terrifying and he's a wee little man.

Or is your position that smaller people often pick fights with bigger, scary looking people? Does it happen? Sure, alcohol and stupid are powerful forces. Is it more common than the inverse event? I doubt it.

Smaller people pick fights with larger people all the time, and yes, it's often through the power of alcohol and stupid - with women it's also "Go head hit me fucker, I'm a woman hit me I dare you" from time to time.

I have never been in a seriously violent situation but I think if some one hit my brother with some thing heavy I would **** that some one up. I like to believe Alistair and Valentijn were as righteous as the brothers from double dragon but the fact is I do not really know what happened.

I was not suggesting Alistair acted immorally. I was just saying that surly the mechanisms of justice in the world should be more inclined to deal with a conflict that caused a lot of serious physical harm(regardless of who is in the wrong) then a apparently harmless push.
